Accessing Your Web Site

You have just received notice that your new TWH website is available to develop, and you are wondering, "how do I begin?'

Let's begin by opening up the "frontend" of your site.

a) The frontend

Type your website url (as given by your TWH representative) into the address bar of your webbrowser.

Your site will look like somewhat like this:

b) The backend (administration site)

Important Note: For best results always use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome web browsers when doing site administration. Firefox is a free download available at: getfirefox.com

In a new window or tab, open up the backend of your site by typing your website url with the suffix, /administrator into the address bar of your webbrowser.

http://(example).net/administrator/

This is where you, the administrator, will develop and edit your website.

A pop-up box will prompt you to log in.  Use the login and password provided by your TWH representative.

The menu bar at the top of the administration site (the row of words beginning with 'Home') and various button links arranged in two rows below, is where you will access the features and functions of your site to create and make changes.

It will look like this:

One of the first administration tasks you will do is change your administration password to a secure password known only to you. You may also change other user information at the same time.

From the row of menu items along the top, choose Site < User Manager

  • Click on the user, Church Admin

  • Type in a new password. The password must be  a minimum combination of six letters and numbersNo spaces, no capital letters and no special characters.
  • Change the Username to your own name.  Something short and familiar to you is best.
  • Change the e-mail address to the one you would like to use as the site administrator.
  • Click the Save Button.

It is recommended that you have both the backend and frontend of the site, and the tutorial open at the same time in different tabs or windows on your browser when you are working on your site. This will allow you to readily go from the admin site to the frontend, and refer to the tutorial, as you develop your site.

You are now ready to develop your website. For best results follow each of the steps outlined sequentially.

News and Information

  • Today's news proclaimed what many of us probably already knew.  Tablets, including the Ipad, Kindle Fire, and E-book readers, are growing faster than any other computer platform.  According to an article on the CBC website, the percentage of Americans owning some sort of tablet or E-book reader jumped from 18 percent in December to 29 percent in January. And the story is likely the same in Canada.  It seems many people found them in their stockings.

  • Trinity Web Hosting has websites around the world, but we also like to support what's happening locally in Edmonton.  So, if you happen to be in Edmonton this next weekend, January 6-7, 2012.  Stop by the Deep Freeze Festival on 118th Avenue.  The Deep Freeze is sponsored by Arts On the Ave, and brings the whole community together for a weekend of winter fun.

Here's a brief description from the Arts on the Ave website.
